Coveting Your Prayers

We covet your prayers tomorrow as Eric has knee surgery in Birmingham. We will be heading that way bright and early in the morning and his surgery is scheduled for 10:30 am. The injury to his knee began in late March/early April and he has endured much discomfort, pain and therapy, as well as cortizone shots, to no avail.

Tomorrow he will have a tendon lengthened, a bursa sac removed, a plica (sp?) shaved down, as well as a scope to clean things up a bit! He walked most of a half marathon on April 11, 2010, due to this knee injury. He hopes to be back up and running (literally) by Christmas and be able to train again and complete a half marathon moving faster!

Specific prayers:
traveling mercies to and from Birmingham
wisdom for the doctors and guidance for the surgery's finer points
safety while Eric is under anesthesia
pain control and quick, infection-free healing
PRAISE for those who are helping us with child care and meals

We know that "As for God, His way is perfect! (Psalm 18:30)" and we are praying, believing that He knows BEST for our family and will work things out accordingly!

Praying for you both! We have been through 2 MAJOR knee surgeries since Tyler and I got married (both for him). It is very challenging and I totally feel for you right now. 3 years ago he had to have his knee cap relocated as well as othroscopic procedure. In April, he had to have a cadaver transplant and a microfracture and was non-weight bearing for 8 weeks! My biggest suggestion is to get the ice cooler thingy! It has to have a dr orders to get it, but it will keep his knee cold and comfortable. This is a must in my book. Then stock up on LOTS of ice to keep it cold- speaking from experience and running to the gas station at 3 am to get more ice the first time! It sounds like he will have to have a CPM (continuous passive movement) machine too. Keeps the knee moving so it doesn't "freeze" up. Hope it goes perfect! Get some rest my dear, you are going to need it!
