Y-M-C-A

Knowing the song will be stuck in your head all day, I can't resist...it really is "fun to (play) at the Y-M-C-A"! Last month, we received a mass mailer stating that, on a certain weekend in April, joining fee at the Y would be waived for new members (a $98 savings) and family memberships to the outdoor pools for the summer would be only $99 for the entire summer! The pics of the outdoor pools that were included were enticing and, thanks to family generosity of pool membership $, we went to sign up! When we arrived in the new member application office, we found out they offer regular monthly membership (still without the initial $98 joining fee for that one weekend we are sitting there) on a sliding scale based on income. We submitted pay stubs from Erics bus driving job, as well as recent totals of monetary gifts many of you have sent through Vanguard, and we were offered a full Y membership for a ridiculously low monthly amount. And it includes all the YMCAs in the city! It was a no-brainer from there! Turns out, since spring temps still haven't arrived in Colorado and summer temps for outdoor pools seem way out of reach, each Y in the city has an indoor pool, some with really cool features! This past week, we visited a different pool each day, after our school day was complete. We are spoiled now and wish we had known about all of this sooner! When we return from our vacation to Alabama (coming up on Sunday), we plan to take advantage of some of the exercise equipment and exercise classes, but for now we are playing and laughing lots in the water, meeting some new friends, and I am actually burning calories during pool play. We actually swam during a blizzard last week. Check out a couple of these cool pools...
