Busy Times...

Several of you have reprimanded me by email, on facebook, or on comments about my lack of posts lately! Times have been busy, busy, busy! Lets see...a quick rundown update since my last post (which, seriously folks, was only 20 days ago!!!)...

We have had ups and downs, like all of you...

1. Our puppy, Gretchen, continued to have a weepy, swollen, seemingly useless eye despite three weeks of care and vet visits! Sadly and reluctantly, we were forced to return her to her original owners out of town, after a referral to a veterinary eye clinic in Birmingham. We had to face the fact that we were not ready to financially commit to that road with a brand new dog and the breeders had the means and desire to do just that! Our money was refunded and we are saving for another puppy, maybe in the summer! She was precious and wonderfully well behaved and we miss her tremendously. She stole our hearts quickly!

2. Homeschooling is WONDERFUL! I love to see Alexander's progress for myself and be a part of his overall learning experience. Because this is his second year to participate in Kindergarten curriculum, we are not stressing! We are taking one day at a time and supplementing the curriculum with many of his interests...trips to the library, time with family and friends, and lots of super reading! Looking forward to many more days of it!

3. We had a neat opportunity to see my college roommate Ruth, her husband Juan Carlos, and their precious baby girl, Esther Catherine! Of course, she knew Eric from Samford, but we had not laid eyes on each other in 9 YEARS! Great time of fellowship and catching up. Felt like not a day had passed and it was just a fresh breath!

4. ERIC is now 30! We celebrated his birthday, just the two of us, at Wings and around Tuscaloosa a little early, then had supper as a family on the actual day at La Fiesta in Demopolis, where he donned a sombrero and was serenaded with "Feliz Cumpleanos", much to Alexander and Reagan's delight! I hope to celebrate many many more with my sweet husband!

5. Reagan is nearing her birthday, but was hospitalized last week with severe dehydration and high fevers. She was tested for quite a few things, which all turned out to be negative. Although we will never know for sure what she had, we are thankful for those negative results and praise God for her renewed health and healing! She is almost 100%, just still requiring breathing treatments and resting much more than usual until she can build her strength back up!

6. Alexander has gotten SO good at riding his bike. He even requested that we take the training wheels off yesterday, but was so interested in falling and laughing that we have put them back on for now (knot and bruises on arm and skinned up knees to prove it, but no crying!) Noni came to visit and help when we were released from hospital and brought Reagan a bike, too! What a treat they are outside...love to watch them!

7. Reagan has become VERY interested in hairbows and wants to wear one EVERYDAY! Even asks, "Do I match?" Oh dear! What next? But isn't she pretty??

Tonight, we went to the first high school soccer game of the season here, to see some of our youth play! Super fun! Then, we enjoyed Kids Eat Free night at Pizza Hut (a first for us, even though we have lived here almost 5 years). Good food and the kids ate very well! Now they know dessert pizza exists...uh oh! Then, Alexander and I went on a date to see the Harlem Ambassadors play a Demopolis team, proceeds to Habitat for Humanity. The show was full of fun entertainment and cool basketball tricks and we had a great time! No pictures, but he can tell you all about all of it! :)

Twenty days is not long, but when you've got a kid in the hospital and a picture of your husband in a sombrero it's time to udpate! :-) Glad everyone is doing well now!
